Fernandez would win ruling party presidential candidacy: poll

Santo Domingo.- Former president Leonel Fernandez would win the ruling party’s (PLD) presidential candidacy with 41.1%, while the National District mayor David Callado would do so in the main opposition party (PRM), with 41.7%.

The Newlink survey released Mon. found that if the elections were today Fenández would get 41.1%, beating his wife Margarita Cedeño’s 24.8%.

In a poll by Newlink last December Fernandez, who was a three-term president, obtained 40.3%.

Collado

The survey found that Callado would be the PRM presidential candidate with 41.7%; Luis Abinader obtained 37.5%, and former president Hipólito Mejía scored 20.9%.

Newlink said the automated telephone survey made on April 3 polled 66,283 people.
