All hands needed for a cleaner, more attractive tourism

Santo Domingo.- To achieve a cleaner and more attractive Dominican Republic tourism there must be an alliance between citizens, the State and the private sector to make the changes and investments to eliminate the 358 open dumps and reap the benefits of solid waste

The statement emerged in the panel “Clean Dominicana Limpia: State Pact for Comprehensive Management of Solid Waste,” where several speakers stressed the importance to involve all Dominicans in the process of improving the environment.

Jorge Luis Bisonó (Georgi), coordinator of Dominicana Limpia which takes place during the Dominican Municipal League’s Recycling Week, called it a “confluence of various public and private institutions that has trained more than 40,000 people.”

“Over 200 clean points have been placed in educational centers, heavy equipment for the technical closure of landfills and delivered more than 394 kits with smaller tools in municipalities.”
