Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic is the sixth country whose citizens violate their stay in the United States, which could lead to fewer visas granted by the US Consulate to Dominicans.
Immigration expert Roque Leonel Rodríguez cites reports on foreigners’ stays of arrivals and departures by the Homeland Security Department, which show that between 2017 and 2018, 25,990 people violated their stay with B1 and B2 visas for tourists and businesses and 705 for students.
In another group in which the Dominican Republic ranks sixth, citizens exceed 10,000 in remaining more than the six months. In first place is Brazil followed by Venezuela, Nigeria, Colombia, China, the Dominican Republic, India and Jamaica.
Rodriguez, quoted by Listin Diario, noted that the whereabouts of those who overstay their visa is known by authorities.
