You want tourists,? give visas: China envoy

Santo Domingo.- China ambassador, Zhang Run, on Fri. urged the Dominican Govt. to make it easier for Chinese tourists to get a visa, noting that “a tourist cannot wait a month and two months for a visa.”

After inaugurating the Confucius Institute at INTEC university to teach the Chinese language and culture, the diplomat said to take advantage of the flow of Chinese tourists, the Caribbean country must be prepared in their language, their culture and in expediting the visa procedure.

He revealed that a group of Chinese tour operators are in Puerto Plata to establish the routes and products that could be offered to the tourists from his nation.

He stressed that his country’s 140 million tourists “went out all over the world last year,” but cautioned that “it will not be easy for them to reach the Dominican Republic given the great distance.”

“But everything is possible because Latin America has a lot of potential and is going to be the region with the highest tourism growth for the Chinese in the next ten years, but for that you have to be prepared.”
