May prices decline 0.03%, paced by transport

Santo Domingo. – Dominican Republic’s Central Bank on Mon. said consumer prices declined 0.03% in May, while accumulated inflation from January to May stood at 1.36%.

“With this result annualized inflation, that is, measured from May 2018 to May 2019 reached 1.31%, stayed below the lower limit of the target range of 4.0% ± 1.0% established in the Monetary Program,” the Central Bank said in an email.

It adds that the lower prices in the group Transport (-0.21%) is what most contributed to the near-zero inflation in May.
