David Ortiz recovers, out of ICU

Santo Domingo.- Former Boston Red Sox start David Ortiz is recovering after his second night out of the ICU at Massachusetts General, where he was admitted two weeks ago when he was shot in the eastern part of the capital.

Meanwhile Víctor Hugo Gómez Vásquez, who allegedly ordered the hit in which “Big Pappy” was hurt, is still at large as the authorities, who’ve yet to apprise the media of his possible whereabouts.

The Justice Ministry and the National Police had indicated that the real target wasn’t Ortiz but his friend, Sixto David Fernández Vásquez (El Modelo), a cousin of Gómez Vásquez, and who according to the prosecutor Milcíades Guzmán, maintained a “business link” before the breaking their relationship.
