No arbiters as ruling party’s torment festers

Santo Domingo.- Ruling party (PLD) deputies of Leonel Fernandez’s faction on Tues. Walked out of today’s session demanding that Chamber of Deputies president Radhames Camacho remove to the military surrounding the building “because Congress is under a siege.”

Before the walkout deputy Ruben Maldonado denounced that “a group of young students from different universities gathered yesterday in the esplanade of this Congress made use of a constitutional right.”

He said the young people are opposed to any attempt to amend the Constitution to “perpetuate a ruler in office.”

Maldonado added the protesters had an approval from the National District City Council authorizing to use the public space.
