Border Security detains 5,510 Haitians, seizes vehicles

Santo Domingo.- Border Security (Cesfront) officers detained 5,510 undocumented Haitians who tried to enter the national territory illegally, during June.

The sweeps ordered by defense minister Darío Paulino also turned up 523 pounds of presumably marijuana.

The Cesfront said that it also seized a pickup truck, a tractor trailer, a truck, a bus, motorcycles, 5,720 pounds of garlic, 55-pound sacks of sugar, sacks of Guaconejo wood, packs of cigarettes, sacks of charcoal, gallons of diesel and gasoline, among other contraband.
