Santo Domingo.- The Government assured Monday, through the Interior and Police Ministry, that it guarantees the right to protest, but warned that it will defend the public peace, life and property of citizens.
“It is normal that certain groups wish to draw attention to a situation that deserves concern or requires, in their opinion, the intervention of one of the powers of the State.”
“Democratic coexistence appreciates such expressions and the Constitution of the Republic covers them,” however, it adds, “the exercise of a right by some cannot mean the infringement of the rights of others.”
The warning comes after dozens of antiriot police cordoned off Congress for the third time in two weeks.
