US$257M Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino opens in Punta Cana

Punta Cana.- President Danilo Medina on Thursday attended the opening of the Hotel Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino, built at an initial cost of over US$257 million.

The president toured the complex with Lopesan CEO, Fernando López, who said that more than 1,800 people worked at the site during 15 months.

“With the opening, we attract around 1,200 new employees from almost all the provinces of the country, without counting the increase we have in the demand of local suppliers in the daily operations.”

On the new hotel’s design and architecture, he said it was inspired by the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, as well as other traditional buildings of Ibero-America and the Canary Islands.

2nd phase

“Soon we will start the second phase of our masterplan, we will build a second establishment of about 1,500 rooms, so that we will culminate a project that includes some 2,500 rooms,” Lopez said.

Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino, a 5-star resort, has 1,042 rooms in the first stage.
