Dominican Republic to deport US software tycoon

Santo Domingo.- The Immigration Directorate on Thurs. said it’s doing the paperwork to hand over to US authorities the American software tycoon John David McAfee, arrested Tuesday for possession of illegal firearms aboard his yacht “The Great Mystery.”

Immigration didn’t specify at what time McAfee would leave the country.

Meanwhile the Office of the Attorney General said McAfee and his companions were handed over to Immigration in compliance with the law.

As to the weapons the authorities said they were seized by the Justice Ministry after the arrest.

A source told El Nacional that the American tycoon was at Immigration headquarters, “where the formalities were carried out to proceed with his deportation.”
