IMF lauds Dominican Republic’s ‘solid’ economic performance

Santo Domingo.- Although the directors of the International Monetary Fund praised Dominican Republic authorities for the country’s “solid economic performance,” they also advised them to “take advantage of the current favorable environment” to further increase the economy’s resistance to possible and future situations of crisis, through stronger fiscal conditions and with greater reserves.

Among the positive factors of the performance, they stressed the substantial reduction of poverty, inequality and continuous convergence towards more advanced levels of the economy.

But, while the outlook remains favorable, they are also “subject to risks,” and “structural bottlenecks,” they said.
