Dominican Republic Gov. plays hide-and-seek with kingpin’s spouse

Santo Domingo.- The authorities on Mon. escorted Marisol Franco, spouse of alleged drug kingpin (fugitive) César Emilio Peralta (“El Abusador”), back to the Ciudad Nueva courthouse jail, after her location was a mystery for over 10 hours.

Local media speculated that she would be released in exchange for Peralta’s surrender.

Franco was stealthily removed from the courthouse before 7am, and although the authorities declined to reveal information “for security reasons,” sources say she was taken to her apartment in the Naco district, waiting to make a contact with the alleged narco, it did not occur.

At 5pm Franco was taken under heavy guard before National District judge José Alejandro Vargas for arraignment, but was postponed for next Friday.
