New York.- Dominican-born US congressman Adriano Espaillat and several of his House colleagues are considering pressuring Dominican Republic’s judicial authorities to conduct a more transparent investigation of the bribe cases linked prominent political leaders, officials, former government officials, legislators and opposition figures.
A source close to Espaillat’s office quoted by Diario Libre said the congressman who represents New York’s 13th district has already talked with his colleagues for support through the House Foreign Relations Committee to send a missive to the Attorney General and other authorities requesting a response on the investigation’s results.
“Congressman Espaillat and the other legislators in Washington DC, who seek to make the investigation transparent, believe that the case has been bogged down in the Dominican judicial system,” the source added.
