Grass roots group says beware with Pension Fund use

Santo Domingo.- The grass roots organization Nation for All Movement (MPT) asked the government to ban the use of the Pension Fund by decentralized government agencies, which in its view adopt regulations that don’t comply with the pensions Law 379-81 which regulates the pensions of government workers.

MPT president Fulgencio Severino also asked to establish a cap on government pensions, because an official shouldn’t be allowed a self-assigned, abusive salary.

On Friday the Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo announced the construction of more than 8,000, low-cost houses with part of the Pension Fund, currently at more than RD$170.0 billion.
