Tropical storm rains could ease drought

Santo Domingo.- The recent rains over some regions will spread to a large part of the national territory today and Thursday, from a mass of unstable air that will unleash downpours, the National Weather Office (Onamet) forecast Wednesday.

Onamet also said it continues to monitor Tropical Storm Jerry, which formed early Wed. near the Lesser Antilles.

Yesterday, the Emergency Operations Center placed Santiago, La Vega, Monsignor Nouel, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor and San Cristóbal provinces on flash flooding alert, which will be expanded during the day.

“Precipitation will occur in the eastern regions, Caribbean coastal plain, southwest, northeast, northwest, Central mountain range and border area. It’s expected that over Greater Santo Domingo rainfall will be more significant,” says Onamet.
