Spouse of fugitive ‘Abuser’ to stay in jail

Santo Domingo.- A National District Court of Appeals on Mon. upheld a lower court ruling of three months of pretrial detention against Marisol Franco, spouse of the fugitive César Emilio Peralta (The Abuser) who is charged with heading a drug trafficking and money laundering network.

The court ruled for the prosecution on evidence that Franco has bought properties worth more than RD$23 million, including an apartment, a Mercedes Benz and a watch, but couldn’t justify the source of the money.

The court also ruled that the defendant poses a flight risk aided by Peralta.
