Immigration agents conduct raids nationwide

Santo Domingo.- The Immigration Directorate has increased in recent hours, the raids in search of illegal foreigners, combing in two days, more than 30 towns in 15 provinces.

Immigration director Máximo William Muñoz said that as a result of the operations, dozens of illegal aliens have been arrested, most of them Haitian nationals.

He thanked the support by the Armed Forces, the Justice Ministry and provincial governors, to detect illegal aliens in violation of Law 285-04 governing the Dominican Immigration System.

The official added that the arrests of the last hours of illegal foreigners have occurred in rural and urban areas of Santiago, Puerto Plata, San Francisco de Macorís, Moca, La Vega, Higuey, Montecristi, Azua, Bani, San Cristóbal, National District and Santo Domingo,  among others.
