Santiago.- The Incorporated Development Association (APEDI) and the Energy and Mines Ministry headed a day of planting to rescue and restore the micro basins in the northern mountain range.
The entities have already been planting trees in the Gurabo river basin, as part of the “Cultivating Good Water” initiative.
APEDI director Saúl Abreu said they have already rescued 10 springs, with the planting of 100,000 trees of different varieties.
“In the area 31 springs have been identified and plan working them all and extending from Jacagua to Arrenquillo in Villa González, through an intervention process that has the support of the Fondo de Agua Yaque del Norte and the Ministry.
On this occasion, 2,000 trees of the mahogany and cedar variety were planted on the hacienda Picolo Domínguez in the Palo Quemado community in the Northern Cordillera.
