Police dismantles gang dedicated to vehicle theft

Santo Domingo.-The National Police reported on Sunday that a powerful gang that is dedicated to the theft of vehicles in different parts of greater Santo Domingo was arrested, capturing four men and one woman, while pursuing two other men who are members of that criminal organization.

In a note it explains that these actions are in compliance with an order of judicial arrest and for having violated articles 265, 266 and 379 of the Dominican Criminal Code.

The detainees are Jonathan Almonte Torres (Batatica), 27; Andy William Coronado García, 40; Alexander de La Cruz (Burrote), 29, and wife Celeste Ogando (Fanny), 32, and Charlis Daniel Sierra González, 35.

“In these actions, the search and capture of two men identified only as “Ivan” and “Francis” to be sent to justice is maintained, so they are urged to surrender by whichever way they deem suitable,” says the entity.

The preliminary report made by the agents assigned to the Division of Investigation of the Recovery of Stolen Vehicles in the Santo Domingo East municipality, with a seat in the Ensanche Ozama, indicated that the stolen vehicles were transported to the neighboring country of Haiti to seek sales or exchange them for weapons and prohibited substances.
