9,000 soldiers guard Dominican Republic-Haiti border

Dajabón, Dominican Republic.- Defense minister, Rubén Paulino, and other senior military commanders yesterday toured the border with Haiti near Dajabón (northwest), after reinforcements were deployed in that area.

During the tour, the military official instructed the soldiers stationed at the border to act strictly and in accordance with the laws.

Paulino asked them to be permanently alert to the disturbances that occur in the Haitian capital and other cities in the neighboring country.

Nearly 9,000 soldiers have been deployed along the Dominican-Haitian border, as protests have rocked Haiti for several weeks in demand that president Jovenel Moise resign, due to the lack of fuels, shortages and spiraling prices on staples.
