Strengthening tropical wave brings scattered showers

Santo Domingo.- A tropical wave is causing scattered showers with thunderstorms over the southwest, southeast, northeast, border area and Central Mountains, the National Meteorological Office announced Monday.

It said the tropical wave has a high probability of becoming a tropical storm in the next few hours.

It issued alerts for Barahona, Azua, Bahoruco, Pedernales, Independencia, San Juan de la Maguana and Elías Piña provinces, due to saturation of the soil from the downpours and possible swelling of rivers, floods and landslides.
