Top prosecutor mum on ruling party presidential candidate US$37M scandal

J. Rodriguez

Santo Domingo.-  Attorney General, Jean Alain Rodríguez, on Fri. declined comment on the complaint filed against former Public Works Minister and Dominican ruling party (PLD) presidential candidate Gonzalo Castillo, about alleged irregularities during his tenure.

Rodriguez said he could not refer to the issue because he was in an activity against gender violence, where he claimed “progress.”

Castillo has been questioned after a journalistic investigation presented by Alicia Ortega, who found that the Public Works Ministry signed, between April and September 2019, seven untendered contracts for RD$11.5 billion (US$37 million) to pave streets in various parts of the country.
