French sailors missing between Martinique, Dom. Rep. waters, AFP(Update)

Santo Domingo.- The French sailors who had disappeared on Sunday returned ion their boat to Martinique, rescuers told AFP on Monday.

FILE As many as seven French sailors have been missing at sea since Sunday between the island of Martinique and Dominican Republic, the AFP reports Monday quoting the French Transport Ministry, which noted the higher than normal waves after Hurricane Sandy.

The missing were on board a French flag tourist boat.

The ministry said the French Regional Surveillance and Rescue Center launched search operations.

Hurricane Sandy is currently coming onshore in the Northeast United States after having hammering the Caribbean, leaving 66 dead in Haiti, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Bahamas.
