Single-engine plane crashes near airport, no injuries

Santo Domingo.- The pilot and two passengers escaped injury after their aircraft crashed around half a mile outside the perimeter of La Isabela International Airport (AILI) at El Higüero, Thursday afternoon.

The Dominican Airports Management Company (Aerodom) said the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute’s (IDAC) control tower notified the AILI Control Center, which immediately activated the terminal’s emergency procedures to locate the crash site.

It adds that first responders from several agencies took part in the rescue of the occupants of the downed plane, a Grumman AA5, registry HI389.
