The President orders Police chief to clarify student’s death

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Friday instructed National Police chief Jose A. Polanco to clarify the death of the student Willy Ramirez Florian as quickly as possible to establish responsibilities.

Polanco made the announcement after a meeting with Medina in the National Palace, where he was called to explain the fatal incident in the Santo Domingo State University (UASD) campus Thursday.

The killing of protesters by police agents is common in the country, mostly blamed at their commanders’ failure to equip them with weapons that can fire rubber bullets.
