Hundreds walk for “Zero Tolerance to Violence against Women”

Santo Domingo.- Hundreds of women and men, including dozens of government officials, gathered yesterday at the 4th walk "Zero Tolerance to Violence against Women," aimed at reducing domestic abuse.

The event organized by the Ministry of Women and the Justice Ministry began at Mirador Sur Park, culminating in the Center of the Heroes (La Feria), with a minute of silence for the women murdered.

Present in the activity were vice president Margarita Cedeño, the ministers of the Armed Forces, Sigfrido Pared, of Women, Alejandrina German, and of Justice, Francisco Dominguez and the first lady Candida Montilla.

In the speech, Germán said men must assume a commitment to protect women, to halt femicides in the country.

For Dominguez, men must take a vow to responsibly demonstrate their "manliness" without hurting women physically or emotionally.
