Senator in RD$250M embezzlement case attends arraignment

Santo Domingo.- Senator Amable Aristy on Thursday said he has always behaved as an open book his entire life, after deafening his 12 year tenure as head of the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), where he’s accused of embezzling more than RD$250 million.

When he arrived 9:45am for arraignment at the Supreme Court 2nd Criminal Chamber, accompanied by his defense headed by Julio Cury, the La Altagracia province lawmaker said he’s a man of clear ideas and complies with the law and the Constitution.

Supreme Court justice Alejandro Moscoso was designated to hear the preliminary motions, in which the prosecution will request Aristy’s incarceration while the investigation concludes,

Moscoso heads the closed-door hearing on alleged of corruption during Aristy’s tenure as LMD General Secretary.
