Cabarete Development Association wants the Mayor in jail

Santo Domingo.- The Cabarete Development Association (ADECA) on Monday announced it will file charges this week against Cabarete mayor Gabriel Antonio Mora, and seek two years in prison for allegedly violating the Free Access to Public Information Law.

It said Puerto Plata Instruction Court presiding judge Jakaira Veras ruled to grant ADECA a restraining order against Mora (Canoa) on January 5, after the Puerto Plata 1st Civil Chamber had already convicted the official and ordered him to hand over the public information requested, in April last year.

According to ADECA’s lawyer Victor Mena Graveley and ADECA interim president Michel Gay-Crosier, the charges against Mora stem from his refusal to render accounts for the fiscal year and City Hall bank accounts, in addition to failing to reveal bookkeeping procedures.
