Santo Domingo. – The 807.4 kilos of cocaine seized March 14 by the Antinarcotics Agency at Caucedo Port and headed to Valencia, Spain were sent by the notorious head of the Sinaloa Cartel, Joaquin Guzmán Loera (Chapo Guzmán), a case in which two Mexicans are being held.
The drug distributed in 23 bundles was seized when the detainees were loading it in a container of leaf tobacco.
Also arrested thus far are Navy lieutenant Sandy de Leon and the civilians Alejandro Antonio Vizcaino, Angel Domingo Jiménez, Rubén Gabriel Castillo, Juan Carlos Mojica and Wáscar Alberto Familia, as well as the brothers Jose Miguel and Johanna Alcántara.
The tobacco was property of the company Cuevas & Hermanos, located in a Free Zone park at Villa González, Santiago province, and was to be loaded on the freighter Catarina.
Guzmán, who figures among the United States 10 most wanted fugitives, heads one of the most violent criminal organization, which controls several drug trafficking routes in the Caribbean including Dominican territory.
Dominican authorities have eliminated several of the Sinaloa Cartel’s local structures.
