Easter holiday death toll jumps to 38 (Update)

Santo Domingo.- In his final report Monday noon, Emergency Operations Center (COE) director Juan Manuel Méndez said 31 of the 38 deaths attributed to the Easter break were in traffic accidents, eight more than the same period last year.

FILE.- The number of people who died during the Easter holiday rose to 29 Sunday, more than the double the 13 which the Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported Saturday.

COE director Juan Manuel Méndez yesterday said 25 people died in traffic accidents, three drowned and one from alcohol overdose.

Mendez said 24 minors from 12 to 17 years of age were also hospitalized for alcohol overdose, whose parents will be charged with child endangerment.
