Downpours, thunderstorms for much of the country

Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorology Office (Onamet) forecasts heavy showers and thunderstorms for all regions except the country’s Southwest during the next 24 to 72 hours.

It said the rains are caused by a frontal system which remains stationary over the country, and maintains flash flood and mudslide warnings for Montecristi, Puerto Plata, Dajabón and Santiago Rodriguez provinces.

Onamet said the rains will continue during the week, more intense and frequent tomorrow Wednesday and Thursday, in the Northwest and North regions and border zone.
