Miss Dominican Republic Universe stripped of crown on marriage

SANTO DOMINGO.- The shortest reign in the country’s beauty pageant history came to a crashing end yesterday afternoon, when it was learned that the crowned Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2012, Carlina Durán is married and was stripped of the crown.

The news spread like wildfire within the show business community, where because of envy and intense competition, beauty contest scandals are bread and butter.

The Miss Universe pageant organizers said they’ll issue a statement, in which first runner up Dulcita Lieggi, of the National District, will be crowned with the title, won by Duran on April 17.
