Downpours to continue, Caribbean coast under alert

Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorology Office (Onamet) maintains flash flood and mudslide warnings for nearly all regions today as the frontal system over the entire Hispaniola Island brings downpours.

It said the rain will be more intense over the Northwest, North, Northeast and Central Mountains, including thunderstorms accompanied by gusts of wind Thursday afternoon.

Onamet issued a maritime alert on higher than normal winds and waves for the Caribbean coast, where small craft should operate near shore and not venture out to sea.
