Opposition presidential candidate won’t legalize drugs

Santo Domingo.- Opposition PRD party presidential candidate Hipólito Mejía Tuesday vowed to never sign a law to legalize drug use in the country, warning that it’s a serious blow for any family when one of its members gets addicted.

He said drug consumption is a problem whose solution must start by strengthening the family, which makes it hard for someone raised in that stable setting to get trapped by it.

When asked about the large number of drug shipments which arrive in the country, Mejia said it’s indicative that something is wrong.
