Dominican First Lady, VP candidate leaves country (Update)

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s First Lady and ruling PLD party vice presidential candidate Margarita Cedeño arrived Friday at Las Americas Airport to board a private flight to the U.S., where she will reportedly attend her son’s graduation in Boston.

File.- In a surprising development Dominican Republic’s First Lady and ruling PLD party vice presidential candidate Margarita Cedeño arrived Friday at Las Americas Airport to board a private flight out of the country, less than 48 hours prior to the presidential election.

Diariolibre.com and listin.com.do report that Cedeño entered the terminal’s area reserved for ambassadors and dignitaries accompanied by her close relatives, while the authorities await the aircraft on which she’ll travel to Miami, Florida.

They said her bodyguards in five official vehicles immediately cordoned off the area to keep astonished onlookers from asking about the reasons behind the unannounced flight.
