Major opposition party ends campaign will massive rally

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s major opposition party (PRD) ended its electoral campaign with a massive march–motorcade Friday, where thousands of supporters waked and drove through several sectors of the National District.

Its presidential candidate Hipólito Mejía wasn’t present in the activity which began 4pm at the corner of Nicolas de Ovando and Ortega & Gasset avenues, from where the throng continued onto until Duarte Av., until arriving at the Malecon.

Mejía reportedly was unable to reach the spot designated to start the rally, and instead decided to head to El Malecon to lead the march which ended at Máximo Gómez Av.
