Dominican music icon Johnny Ventura passes away at 81

Santo Domingo.- Merengue king Johnny Ventura, the legend of Dominican music, passed away this Wednesday of a heart attack, at 81, in a clinic in Santiago.

His legacy will remain in emblematic songs such as “Merenguero hasta la tambura,” “El tobacco,” “Las indias de Baní” or in his more than 100 record productions along a prolific 65-year career.
