Downpours pound the coast, flash flood warnings posted

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) issued flash flooding alerts for nine provinces and the National District, as a tropical wave over much of the country drenches the Caribbean coast.

La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Monte Plata, San Jose de Ocoa, San Cristobal, La Altagracia and the National District and Santo Domingo province, are under the flash flood alert, as the tropical wave unleashed its downpours since early Thursday morning.

Meanwhile the National Meteorology Office forecasts continuing showers today and also cautions that heavy swells along the Caribbean and Atlantic coasts, where small craft warnins have been posted.
