The country’s 1st heart transplant patient doing well

Santo Domingo.- The 22 year-old woman subjected to a heart transplant Wednesday at the Cedimat General Hospital remains stable guarded condition.

According a hospital statement issued Sunday, Stefani Moreno Vargas, mother of two and native of the impoverished barrio Sabana Perdida, is doing well and ingesting liquid food.

Cedimat director Jose A. Castaños Guzman said the patient’s doing well and yesterday asked to be bathed and her hair washed, while the center’s spokespersons Dashira Martinez said the evaluations of her various organs found they remain within normal ranges.

Moreno became the first patient to ever receive a heart transplant in Dominican Republic.
