UASD launches campus pedestrianization

Santo Domingo.- The Autonomous Universityof Santo Domingo (UASD) is implementing a pilot pedestrianization programcovering the central perimeter of its main campus as of today, according to universityrector Mateo Aquino Febrillet.

Hesaid that the students would now be able to enjoy a traffic-free space in thecentral area of the campus, thus contributing to lower carbon monoxidepollution levels.

“Allis in place for the pedestrianization to start this Monday, as part of thecampus reorganization plan”, stated Febrillet.

Vehiclesmay be parked free of charge in all the street parking areas, and for a fee inthe indoor parking garages like the one built opposite the Administrative Towerand the new University Cafeteria formally opened by president Leonel Fernándezon Friday.

TheUniversity Council established a fee of just RD$10 for parking in the indoorgarage.
