Medina kicks off school year in native province

Santo Domingo.- Everything is ready for president Danilo Medina and Education minister Josefina Pimentel to formally open the school year today, during a ceremony slated for a school in his native province of San Juan de la Maguana (west).

In a statement the Education Ministry said more than 2.7 million students in public, semi-public and private, as well as preschool, primary and middle schools professional-technical centers, arts and special subsystems and adults are expected to form part of the 2012-2013 school year.

Pimentel said a successful school year is guaranteed, noting the work conducted to prepare the teachers, and physical logistics for the schedule and school hours.
