Juicy perks in the struggling utility

Santo Domingo.- Despite that the State-owned Electric Utility and the three energy distributors, EDES, are still in financial straits and still provide dislmal service the four government agencies pay salary "perks" and bonuses as if they were thriving and profitalble businesses.

Recently the CDEEE’s 19 top executives’ “efficiency“ was rewarded with multimillion dollar sums in severance pays, including CEO Celso Marranzini, totaling US$24.8 million.

The team left the CDEEE when the new authorities took possession.

The 16 foreign executives and technicians hired by the biggest of the three state-owned distribuitors, Edesur Dominicana, SA, a, earn a total of RD$9.734 million each month, or US$$ 249,611.
