Canadian Council for the Americas’ kudos for ex president

Santo Domingo.- Former president Leonel Fernandez will be recognized by the Canadian Council of the Americas with the Statesman of the Year Award in Toronto.

The Canadian organization is a think tank which addresses political and economic issues, especially trade and investment.

The distinction for Fernandez, to take place during its annual gala September 20 in Toronto, is the result of his role as mediator in conflicts between Latin American countries and in strengthening democracy in the region.

The Canadian Council said the ex President more than deserves the award, based on his efforts in foreign policy.
