NY senator Espaillat in easy win over countryman

New York. – New York State senator Adriano Espaillat will be on the ballot in November’s elections by defeating Assemblyman Guillermo Linares by double digits in one of the most hotly contested campaigns in the city’s Democratic primaries, EFE reports.

Around midnight Espaillat had 65% of the votes in for the Senate District 31 seat, which he has held since two years ago, and had the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the entire Democratic Party machinery.

"I think this is a time for reflection, reconciliation, to heal all ailments" arising during the campaign, Espaillat told Channel 41 Univision.

"I urge all Democrats to unite to re-elect President Barack Obama," he said Espaillat surrounded by hundreds of supporters celebrating his victory and will soon begin the run for the November elections, in which he expects an easy win.
