Justice Ministry rejects challenge by senator charged with embezzlement

Santo Domingo.- The Justice Ministry on Wednesday rejected a challenge of two of its officials filed by the lawyers for ruing PRD party senator Felix Bautista, in the case where the organization Citizens against Corruption opposed dropping the charges of embezzlement.

Justice minister Francisco Dominguez called ill-founded and without legal basis, the challenge against assistant DA Ricardo Taveras and Anticorruption Dept. deputy director (DPCA) Laura Guerrero.

Reading the motion before justice Esther Agelan, Bautista’s lawyers headed by Abel Rodriguez del Orbe motioned the Court to exclude the prosecutor, arguing that he’s not part of the proceeding.
