SANTO DOMINGO. – The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) on Monday graduated a technical team to investigate complex cases, trained by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Canada ambassador Georges Boisse, who attended the graduation, congratulated the DNCD for its actions against international drug trafficking.
The diplomat stressed the importance of the exchange between the two countries for the training of personnel. "In the three months I’ve been in the Dominican Republic I often see in newspapers the large quantities of drugs that this institution confiscates and the drug traffickers it arrests."
"This country is a close friend of Canada and it hurts to see the phenomenon of violence, so we try to see how we can help them," said Boisse, noting that Dominican Republic is quiet and peaceful, as evidenced by the large number of Canadian tourists who plan their holidays here.
Speaking for DNCD president Rolando Rosado, Joint Coordination and Information Center (CICC) director Valentin Rosado Vicioso thanked Boisse for Canada’s cooperation and urged the graduates to apply the knowledge in favor of the population.
