Fernandez sees as an excess that Caricom asks not to apply court ruling

Santo Domingo.– Former Dominican president Leonel Fernandez considered as an excess that Trinidadand Tobago Prime Minister and president of the Caribbean Community (Caricom), KamlaPersad-Bissessar, requested in a letter to President Danilo Medina not to applythe controversial ruling 168-13.

After handing out the traditional Christmas baskets with her son Omar on behalf of the ruling PLD party, Fernandez said: "I believe therehas been an excess on the part of the Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister of ignoring what a democratic State of Law means."

Fernandez considered as impossible that Caricom claims against the constitutionalcourt ruling on the conditions for Dominican nationality, since it is a final decision made by a Dominican court.
