Kidnapped baby was returned to her family in Los Mina maternity

The National Police reported that the newborn girl who was abducted from the San Lorenzo de Los Mina maternity hospital in Santo Domingo Este last Saturday had been found safe and sound. Diego Pesqueira, a spokesman for the law enforcement agency, confirmed the information. According to Pessqueira, an alleged doctor entered a room where several mothers were holding their babies and began taking temperatures, claiming that the abducted girl had a fever.

The relatives of the newborn girl kidnapped from the San Lorenzo de Los Mina maternity hospital early Saturday morning were in despair and anguish. “The only thing they said was that they are investigating, but they didn’t give us a direct answer; they haven’t told us anything,” the baby’s grandmother, Agripina Nolasco Girón, bemoaned, reporting that the infant was taken from the hospital facilities at 1 a.m. by a woman dressed as a nurse, who claimed that the little girl was displaying symptoms of fever.

She claimed that, in addition to wearing a uniform, the supposed health worker who entered one of the center’s rooms to medicate the newborns wore dark glasses. The lady accused the staff of the health facility in Santo Domingo Este of being irresponsible and threatened to stay until the girl returned to her mother Geralys Payano’s arms.
