Civil Defense chief’s son off to jail on US$2.5M fraud charges

Santo Domingo.- National District Permanent Service judge Jose Alejandro Vargas on Friday sent Luis Joel Luna Yorro, son of retired general (r) and Civil Defense director Luis A. Luna Paulino, to be held for three months to await trial on fraud charges.

The same ruling was handed down against Luis Eduardo Alcantara. Both are accused in a fraud in the millions of dollars, and will be sent to La Victoria prison.

Luna Yorro and Alcantara Perez are accused of forming part of an international network which allegedly defrauded more than US$2.5 million using forged credit cards in automatic tellers.
